- Starlink has officially launched operations in Bangladesh.
- The company provides unlimited internet with high speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
- Elon Musk’s Starlink has almost finished the final process for offering commercial satellite broadband services.
Bangladesh can now use Starlink, as the company provides unlimited internet with high speeds of up to 300 Mbps. As per the BTRC’s granting of a license to Starlink for satellite internet services on April 29, 2025 and the mandated 90-day directive, the company began providing its service from April 29. The initiative was announced by both Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Starlink official X handle on Facebook.
In his post, Taiyeb stated, “Starlink has officially launched operations in Bangladesh. Yesterday afternoon, they informed me about it over the phone, and this morning, they confirmed the news on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.” Starlink’s X post on May 20 declared, "Starlink's high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Bangladesh.”

The plans offered by Starlink at launch are ‘Starlink Residential’ for Tk 6,000 a month and ‘Residential Lite’ for Tk 4,200, each with a set-up fee of Tk 47,000 paid only once. They both include unlimited data and do not have speed or data restrictions. Taiyeb noted, “From today, customers in Bangladesh can start placing orders. This marks the realization of the Chief adviser's vision to launch the service within 90 days.” Since 38.9% of Bangladesh has internet access, the low-latency Starlink network can facilitate real-time software, supporting the goals outlined in Vision 2041
At the same time, Starlink is preparing to offer its services to more parts of South Asia. In India, Elon Musk’s Starlink has almost finished the final process for offering commercial satellite broadband services. IN-SPACe may grant approval after considering the stand of its inter-ministerial committee, made up of representatives from the DoS, I&B, DoT, MHA, MEA and commerce and industry ministries, in its coming meeting.
