At the Build 2025 event in Seattle, Microsoft stated conference attendees that it will integrate AI systems from Elon Musk’s xAI, Meta Platforms, Mistral and Black Forest Labs with its Azure service which runs on Microsoft’s servers. With this step, there are now over 1,900 AI models available to Azure users, helping to ensure reliable services as more people make requests and avoiding the usual outages on top AI models.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella emphasized the flexibility this offers, stating, “That’s just a game-changer in terms of how you think about models and model provisioning. It’s exciting for us as developers to be able to mix and match and use them all.”
According to Asha Sharma, Corporate Vice president of Microsoft, The Company introduced Azure Foundry; a service that lets companies build custom AI agents for a range of tasks, these agents will probably combine several AI models for better results, like xAI's Grok 3 and Grok 3 Mini, Meta's Llama, and products from Mistral and Black Forest Labs.

This change in strategy shows how Microsoft is becoming a more neutral player in the AI space. It is balancing its partnership with OpenAI, whose competing Codex agent was announced last week, while also expanding its AI ecosystem to boost sales and keep costs down.
Microsoft also added a new feature to GitHub Copilot, an AI coding agent that can handle complicated coding tasks on its own with little help from people, like bug descriptions and fixing strategies. This agent does tasks and notifies developers for review, which increases productivity. Microsoft wants to give businesses and developers powerful, scalable AI solutions that work well all the time and encourage innovation in all industries by using its data centers.
